Privacy Policy - Blackboard by Boogie Board
Kent Displays, Inc. (“we” or “us” or “our”) respects the privacy of our users (“user” or “you”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our mobile application (the “Application”). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE APPLICATION.
We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the “Last updated” date of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the Application after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the third-party online/mobile store from which you install the Application, which may also collect and use data about you. We are not responsible for any of the data collected by any such third party.
COLLECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Application depends on the features and settings you use, and includes:
Data Collected at Product Registration
We collect information voluntarily provided by you at product registration such as email address, device information, and country for purposes of improving customer service and sending product or service information. If you opt in to our mailing list, you may also receive emails that may include company news, updates, promotions, or surveys. The data is retained indefinitely but will be deleted upon request using the contact information below.
We rely on consent as the legal basis for collecting this information. Neither providing registration information nor opting in to the mailing list is required in order to use the Application.
Data Collected in the Application
The Application allows the recording of user-generated images locally on your mobile device. These images are not shared with us nor do we have any knowledge of their content.
The Application supports sharing these images with third parties under the user’s direction via web integrations and also services offered by the mobile device operating system. The user accepts responsibility for the disclosure of all content within user-generated images including personal data or sensitive personal information. If you opt in to any of these third party services, we may collect additional information requested by this third party and pass this information, together with all other registration information (including personal information), to that third party. Use of your information by a third party will be governed by that third party’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By opting in, you provide consent for this data to be shared with the third party. Participation in these services is optional and is not required to use the Application.
Data Collected to Improve the Application
In order to continuously improve the Application, we use the Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics services provided by Google.
Firebase Crashlytics is used to track and help to prevent future application crashes. Personal data collected by Crashlytics in the event of a crash includes Crashlytics Installation UUIDs, Crash traces, and Breakpad minidump formatted data (NDK crashes only). Firebase Crashlytics uses crash stack traces to associate crashes with a project and help us debug them. It uses Crashlytics Installation UUIDs to measure the number of users impacted by a crash and minidump data to process NDK crashes. The minidump data is stored while the crash session is being processed and then discarded. Firebase Crashlytics retains crash stack traces, extracted minidump data, and associated identifiers (including Crashlytics Installation UUIDs) for 90 days.
Google Analytics is used to provide information on how the Application is being used, including certain events, active user numbers, session length, stability rating, and retention. Personal data collected by Google includes an Installation UUID and an IP address. This data helps Google provide their service by providing customers with analytics information based on segmented device data. IP addresses are used to provide approximate geolocation information to customers. The Installation UUID is retained by Google for 60 days.
Google provides the Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics services to us under their standard terms. Firebase Crashlytics is governed by the Firebase Crashlytics & Firebase App Distribution Terms of Service and the Crashlytics and App Distribution Data Processing and Security Terms. Google Analytics is governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Service and the Google Ads Data Processing Terms. See also Privacy and Security in Firebase and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
We rely on consent as the legal basis for the use of Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics. You may remove consent at any time by disabling these features in the Application settings.
MOBILE DEVICE ACCESS
We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including your mobile device’s camera, calendar, and other features. Usage of a Blackboard Smart Pen with the Application requires Bluetooth permission. On Android devices the smart pen also requires an additional location permission (Android 11 and lower) or nearby devices permission (Android 12 and higher). The additional permissions are Android requirements for the Application to scan for the pen. The Application does not use information from Bluetooth scans to determine your location, nor does it access any services on your device that provides location. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device settings.
SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties. Therefore, we cannot guarantee complete security if you provide personal information.
